Matt Will Plaque

Matt Will Memorial Plaque Mid-Coast Fire Station

The Colorado fire was reported on October 8, 2007 at 12:42pm. Thanks to the heroic actions of dozer operator Matt Will the fires progress to the North and East was halted thereby saving our community. Almost four hours after the initial report of the fire Matt Will lost his life as he tried to help another dozer operator who had become stuck on the hill and his dozer rolled into the canyon below.

In 2009 a memorial plaque was placed at the fatality site where Matt's dozer came to rest on that fateful day to honor Matt and recognize the ultimate sacrifice he made for our community and his friend.

In 2011 a story board was placed at the Mid Coast Fire Station to honor Matt Will and memorialize his story.
